LAHORE (Dunya News) – JI emir Naeem-ur-Rehman has said the current system has failed to solve public problems, urging the rulers to review their policies.
Speaking at a sit-in here on Friday, the JI chief said the protest movement against rising fuel prices has been intensified and if necessary, the sit-in will be prolonged.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said people are currently protesting in hundreds of places across Pakistan. Sit-ins are ongoing in various cities, including the beaches of Karachi and Lahore, he remarked.
He said the protest is a struggle for public rights and that the sit-in will be extended if necessary.
Criticising the government, JI chief said heavy levies, taxes, and inflation imposed on petroleum products have made the lives of the people unbearable.

He demanded that the petroleum levy be immediately abolished, the economic burden on the poor, labourers, farmers, students and the middle class be reduced, and relief be provided to the people.
The JI said that the Jamaat-e-Islami protest movement will continue until the public demands are met, asking the workers to maintain discipline and keep the road open for citizens, especially ambulances, during the protest.
