NEW YORK (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar met with Al-Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Libya, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UNGA in New York on Tuesday.
The two sides expressed interest in further strengthening friendly ties between Pakistan and Libya across diverse fields, particularly trade, education, and business-to-business exchanges.
The ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the evolving situation in the Middle East. They discussed the implications for regional peace, energy supplies, and the global economy, particularly for developing countries.
The Libyan foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stability.
DPM Dar underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means for addressing regional challenges and stressed the need for all parties to return to the Islamabad MoU for advancing regional stability.
Earlier, Dar met with Foreign Minister of Egypt Badr Abdelatty on sidelines of 81st Session of UN General Assembly in New York.
The two Ministers reaffirmed the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Egypt and expressed commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, including trade and investment, economic cooperation, education, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
The discussions also covered regional and international developments, including the prevailing situation in the Middle East and Iran. The two Ministers underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional challenges. DPM/FM stressed the need for full implementation of the Islamabad MoU by all parties.
The two sides also reaffirmed the importance of continued consultations under the Regional Four (R4) framework and agreed to further deepen coordination on issues of common interest. They stressed the importance of continued international cooperation and effective multilateralism in addressing common global challenges.
