ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq held an important meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the possibility of imposing emergency or governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to sources, the meeting focused on key constitutional, legal and parliamentary matters concerning the province. The Speaker briefed the prime minister on his recent contacts with opposition figures and shared details of his meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The two sides also discussed the convening of the next session of the National Assembly and the parliamentary situation in the wake of the developments in KP.

Sources said the federal government is considering its options and may take a decision on the matter soon. The discussions come amid heightened political activity surrounding the provincial government and ongoing consultations among political stakeholders.
No formal decision regarding emergency or governor’s rule had been announced at the time of the meeting, while further consultations are expected before the federal government reaches a final decision.
