Summary PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said the party’s long march will proceed as scheduled, rejecting emergency or governor’s rule as a response and calling for provincial rights to be protected.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said the party wanted negotiations with the government to succeed, but the two sides have yet to decide when the next round of talks will take place.
Speaking to the media after a deadlock emerged in talks between the government and PTI, Gohar said the party’s long march would proceed according to schedule, describing it as the party’s right.
He said no steps should be taken under the pretext of the long march that could create hatred, division or tension among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or undermine the province’s mandate, autonomy and powers.
Gohar said there was no room for any measure against provincial rights or the public mandate, adding that such actions would also be contrary to the spirit of the 18th Amendment.
The PTI chairman said the response to the long march should not be the imposition of an emergency or governor’s rule. He added that it had still not been decided when the next meeting between government and PTI delegations would take place.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister Talal Chaudhry claimed that consensus had been reached on several matters during the negotiations, but the draft agreement was repeatedly changed on the instructions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership.
He alleged that the provincial government was not ready to implement the National Action Plan and that this was the reason the negotiations could not move forward.
