ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s young football player Muhammad Riaz hopes to see a better tomorrow after the recent financial support by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The prime minister called Riaz, who belongs to Hangu, for a meeting few days after news reports about financial hardships the star has been facing got round. Videos of Riaz preparing jalebis (a sweet delicacy) at an outlet to eke out a living went viral on social media.
The premier gave Rs2.5 million cheque to Riaz and promised a government job for him. He also lauded the youngster’s determination and urged him to continue sport as he represented Pakistan in the 2018 Asian Games.
He said it was government’s duty to provide all possible resources to the talented youth to enable them to make it big and promote country’s soft image. Pakistani youth were an asset, he added.
Riaz thanked the prime minister for the support and promising measures for the welfare of athletes.
Meanwhile, reports say the Pakistan Football League (PFL) also announced a cash prize of Rs1 million for Riaz.
