DHAKA (Web Desk) - Bangladesh quick Nahid Rana is set to return to PSL 2026 after the BCB granted him the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to resume playing in the tournament despite withdrawing it last week.
The BCB had initially granted Nahid the NOC to play in the PSL only till April 13, after which he was pulled out of the tournament to manage his workload. But he's now set to return to represent his side Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL final on May 3, even as it comes after he was rested for the first two T20Is of Bangladesh's ongoing home series against New Zealand.
"This decision has been made considering the significance of participating in the final of a major global franchise competition, which is viewed as an important step in the continued development of the player," the BCB said in a statement. "More importantly, the team management and BCB medical team has provided clearance, confirming that his participation in the match will not adversely affect his fitness, workload management or availability for national duty."
On Wednesday, Zalmi owner Javed Afridi thanked the BCB president Tamim Iqbal for allowing Nahid back at the PSL.
Nahid has been in stellar form recently. In the four matches that he played for Zalmi before leaving for Bangladesh duty, he took seven wickets at an impressive average of 10.85 and an economy rate of 5.42. That included bagging 3 for 7 against Karachi Kings, who were bowled out for 87 after Zalmi put up 246. Nahid followed up on that by taking 5 for 32 for Bangladesh in the second ODI against New Zealand, before finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the series with eight wickets at an average of 16.75.
The BCB had originally rested Nahid for six days. That break was to be over on Wednesday, after which he was to start training for Bangladesh's Test series against Pakistan, which begins in Dhaka on May 8. However, despite the PSL final scheduled for just five days before the first Test against Pakistan, the BCB confirmed that Nahid "remains on track to be available" for the Test match.
