ANDHRA PRADESH (Web Desk) – Villagers in India's Andhra Pradesh state organised a ceremonial wedding for two donkeys, hoping the traditional ritual would bring abundant rainfall and a successful monsoon season.
According to Indian media reports, residents of Kurlapalli village in Anantapur district's Kalyandurg Mandal held the ceremony as part of a local tradition believed to encourage rainfall.
During the event, the two donkeys were paraded through the village to the beat of drums before the wedding ceremony was performed. Afterward, villagers poured water over the pair and offered special prayers for heavy rains.
Residents said they had performed a similar ritual in the past, after which the area received good rainfall. They expressed hope that the tradition would once again help bring favourable monsoon rains this year.
