NCA revealed gun parts concealed within vehicle
LONDON (Web Desk) - A man was sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to smuggle firearm parts into the UK from Pakistan, the country’s federal crime agency announced.
According to a statement from the National Crime Agency (NCA), 40-year-old Yasir Khan was behind an attempt to smuggle 72 firearm parts—36 top slides and 36 barrels for 9mm Glock self-loading pistols—hidden inside a 1976 Datsun Sunny shipped from Pakistan.
The NCA revealed that the gun parts were expertly concealed within the vehicle. Following an investigation, officers arrested Khan in July last year. Claiming to be a car dealer, he was later brought before Birmingham Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty and received his sentence.
Investigators found voice notes on Khan’s phone indicating contact with a Pakistani supplier linked to firearm manufacturers.
The statement also noted that Khan was suspected of involvement in a similar smuggling attempt in November 2023. Evidence suggested that during the same year, he had purchased several deactivated firearms, which he was believed to have restored into functioning lethal weapons.
A video shared by the NCA on social media platform X showed armed officers raiding a vehicle in which Khan was seated. The footage captured the moment officers placed him in handcuffs and took him into custody.
