Summary Pakistan Stock Exchange ended the week on a positive note, with the KSE-100 gaining 399 points, while the rupee strengthened slightly against the US dollar.
KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed the final trading session of the week in positive territory on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 399 points amid active trading.
The KSE-100 Index settled at 175,328 points, maintaining its position above the key 175,000 level.
During the session, the benchmark touched an intraday high of 175,418 points, while its lowest level was recorded at 174,515 points.
Trading activity remained robust, with shares of 569 companies changing hands during the session. Of these, 235 companies recorded gains, while share prices of 218 companies declined.
Around 870 million shares worth Rs32 billion were traded at the stock exchange during the day.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee registered a marginal improvement against the US dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the dollar declined by one paisa to close at Rs277.41 in the interbank market.
The simultaneous improvement in equities and the slight strengthening of the rupee brought the week's final trading session to a positive close.
