Match referee Javagal Srinath and umpire Nitin Menon have reportedly refused to travel to Pakistan
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Following the Indian cricket team’s refusal to tour Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy, Indian match officials have also declined to travel for the tournament.
According to reports from Indian media, no Indian umpire or match referee will be part of the officiating panel for the event. Match referee Javagal Srinath and umpire Nitin Menon have reportedly refused to travel to Pakistan.
Indian media claimed that after their refusal, the ICC decided not to include them in the panel. Srinath has taken leave from the ICC, while Menon has cited personal reasons for opting out of the tour.
Per ICC regulations, Indian match officials were already ineligible to supervise India’s matches if they were played in Dubai.
Javagal Srinath, a former fast bowler, represented India in 67 Tests and 229 ODIs, claiming 236 Test wickets and 315 ODI wickets during his career.
