PCB writes to ICC after Pakistan's name omitted from logo in Ind vs Ban broadcast

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a letter to ICC after they found out the omission of Pakistan's name from the official logo during the live broadcast of the recent India versus Bangladesh Champions Trophy match in Dubai. The matter prompted the PCB to formally request an explanation from the ICC.
During the India versus Bangladesh game on February 20, the event logo, "Champions Trophy 2025," was displayed throughout the live telecast, but the host country's name, Pakistan, was absent throughout. While broadcasters are contractually obligated to include both the event name and the host nation's name in all broadcasts, including matches played in Dubai, this protocol was not followed during India's tournament opener. Interestingly, the logo was correctly displayed during the tournament's opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi, as well as during the Afghanistan versus South Africa game on Friday, February 21.
The omission of Pakistan's name from the broadcast logo quickly ignited speculation and criticism across social media platforms. This issue arose after the Indian government declined to grant permission for the Indian team to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the ICC then engaged in extensive discussions to determine the tournament's location. Following numerous meetings, a hybrid model was ultimately agreed upon, with Dubai chosen as the venue for all of India's matches.
The ICC responded quickly to the controversy. According to report, an ICC spokesperson explained that the omission of Pakistan's name from the broadcast logo during the India vs Bangladesh match was due to a technical glitch. The spokesperson reassured that the official logo, including Pakistan's name, would be displayed during the broadcast of all future matches involving India. The ICC official also clarified that while the broadcast experienced the technical issue, Pakistan's name was correctly displayed on the logo used in social media clips.
Meanwhile, all eyes will be on the high-voltage Champions Trophy clash between India and Pakistan on February 23. While India will be heading into the match with a lot of confidence as they notched an emphatic six-wicket win over Bangladesh in their campaign opener. Meanwhile, Pakistan suffered a hefty 60-run defeat against New Zealand in the tournament opener on February 19.
