HYDERABAD (Dunya News) - Adopted son of slain poet Dr Akash Ansari has confessed murdering his father, Dunya News reported here on Monday.
Talking to the media, Hyderabad SSP Dr Farukh Ali Lanjar claimed that the accused identified as Vishal Latif set the room of Dr Akash Ansari on fire after murdering him with repeated strikes of a knife, adding police have collected evidence of the murder.
The SSP said the accused was an addict and kept demanding money from his father to meet his desire for intoxicants. He said the accused’s DNA test had been conducted, and police were waiting for forensic and post-mortem reports.
Earlier, police had arrested two suspects in connection with the death of eminent poet Dr Akash Ansari, who was burnt alive on Saturday when his house allegedly caught a fire.
According to police, the arrested suspects turned out to be the adopted son and driver of Dr Akash. During investigation, the deceased’s driver told police that Dr Akash’s adopted son Vishal Latif killed his father.
