Summary Indus Hospital founder Dr Abdul Bari Khan has been named the only Pakistani recipient of the 2026 James and Carol Hovey Eisenhower Fellowships Impact Award.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Dr Abdul Bari Khan, founder, president and chief executive officer of the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), has been selected for the 2026 James and Carol Hovey Eisenhower Fellowships Impact Award in the United States.
The award recognises individuals whose work has created an exceptional and lasting positive impact on society.
Dr Bari is the only Pakistani selected for the honour this year, marking significant international recognition for his contribution to healthcare and social welfare in Pakistan.
According to Eisenhower Fellowships, Dr Bari is being honoured for his role in transforming the Indus Hospital & Health Network into one of Pakistan’s largest free healthcare systems, providing medical services to millions of patients without charging them for treatment.
A renowned Pakistani surgeon and social worker, Dr Bari began the Indus Hospital journey nearly two decades ago with a 150-bed hospital in Karachi.
Under his leadership, the institution has expanded from a single hospital into a nationwide healthcare network serving millions of people across Pakistan.
The recognition highlights Dr Bari’s long-standing efforts to make quality healthcare accessible to people regardless of their ability to pay.
