ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Tuesday chaired a meeting of opposition leaders in Islamabad to discuss current political situation in the country.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who is also president of the opposition alliance Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP), hosted a dinner in honour of opposition leaders.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Allama Nasir Abbas, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Shibli Faraz, Sardar Latif Khosa, Mustafa Nawaz Khokar, Junaid Akbar, Aslam Ghauri and other leaders participated in the dinner.

According to sources, detailed discussion was held on the current political situation in the country and formation of grand alliance of the opposition parties. It was also agreed during the meeting that all the democratic forces should gather on one platform to bring the country out of the crisis.

The opposition leaders agreed to form a committee under the chairmanship of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to convene All Parties Conference (APC) and prepare a national agenda. Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz, Kamran Murtaza, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Sajid Tareen, Nasir Shirazi and Akhunzada Hussain will be the members of the committee.

They said that February 8 general elections were rigged, therefore, fresh elections must be announced. They demanded that an independent Election Commission should be established to hold free and fair election. They also demanded release of all political leaders including PTI founder Imran Khan.

They were of the view that the government has completely failed to maintain law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. They also expressed concern over the economic situation of the country.
