PM Shehbaz urges developed nations to fulfill climate financing pledges
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed hope that developed nations will fulfill their commitments to climate financing.
During a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan Muhammad Yahya, the prime minister appreciated the efforts of the UN Country Team in Pakistan.
He emphasised strengthening cooperation with the UN in sustainable development and climate change sectors.
Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the role of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in mobilising global support after the 2022 floods.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to close collaboration with the international community and the UN. He urged developed nations to meet their financial commitments in this regard.
He further emphasised bridging financial gaps to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and enhancing developing nations' representation in global financial institutions.
