KP Governor criticises renaming of Arbab Niaz stadium

Pakistan
He accused Chief Minister of being on a mission to erase the province’s identity
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has strongly criticised the provincial government for renaming Arbab Niaz Stadium.
In a statement, Governor Kundi called the renaming a highly inappropriate move, stating that naming the stadium after someone who "surrendered the province to terrorists" was an insult to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He accused Chief Minister of being on a mission to erase the province’s identity and said that dedicating the stadium to a key culprit of the May 9 events was tantamount to empowering anti-state forces.
Governor Kundi declared that the people of Peshawar stood firmly against the name change.
He also criticised the PTI, stating that despite nine years in power, they failed to renovate and restore Arbab Niaz Stadium. In contrast, he praised the federal government and PCB for transforming stadiums in Lahore and Karachi within weeks.
