Creation of small provinces essential to end inequality: Mian Amer

The roundtable discussion highlights the growing demand for administrative reforms
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A roundtable conference on the establishment of new administrative units was held at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), bringing together politicians, lawyers, bureaucrats, academics and intellectuals to discuss the issue.
According to the communique issued after the conference, Mian Amer Mahmood, chairman of Dunya Media Group, presented a paper titled “Pakistan 1947-2025: Why Has It Failed Its People?”
While presenting his paper, Mian Amer Mahmood emphasised that the creation of smaller provinces was crucial to eliminating inequality and ensuring balanced development in Pakistan.

Former Punjab minister Mian Imran also supported the formation of smaller provinces, stating "If all stakeholders reach a consensus, constitutional amendments can pave the way for new provinces."
On this occasion, Haider Abbas Rizvi argued that Pakistan’s core issue was not economic but administrative.
He suggested establishing a provincial finance commission along the lines of the National Finance Commission (NFC) to ensure fair resource distribution.
