Summary Sindh plans 1,000 more pink EV scooters, new intercity bus routes, and additional EV and double-decker buses for commuters.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Government of Sindh has decided to purchase 1,000 more pink electric scooters for women as part of efforts to improve safe and modern transportation facilities.
Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the provincial government has also decided to launch an intercity Peoples Bus Service to further expand the mass transit system across the province.
He said intercity bus services will soon be introduced in Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad and Sanghar.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, who also holds the information, transport and mass transit portfolio, said plans are underway to introduce new EV buses and double-decker buses for Karachi.
He added that new transport routes between Khairpur and Rohri, as well as Khairpur and Ranipur, will be launched next week.
The decisions were discussed during a meeting of the transport and mass transit department chaired by Sharjeel Inam Memon, attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Saleemullah Odho and other officials.
The meeting reviewed new Peoples Bus Service routes, distribution of pink EV scooters, EV taxi services and ongoing and proposed mass transit projects.
Officials also announced that additional buses would arrive in Karachi over the coming months to further improve travel facilities for citizens.
Sharjeel Inam Memon directed authorities to immediately resolve registration issues related to pink EV scooters and said the Sindh government is taking practical steps to empower women through safe and dignified transport facilities.
The meeting also agreed to introduce more double-decker and hybrid buses to modernise the province’s mass transit system.
