RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) - Aleema Khan has requested an anti-terrorism court to summon key personalities, including government ministers and journalists, as court witnesses in the May 9 protest case.

The hearing of the case against Aleema Khan and 10 other accused was held at the Special Anti-Terrorism Court, with Judge Amjad Ali Shah presiding over the proceedings. The prosecution team, led by Senior Prosecutor Zaheer Shah, was also present in the courtroom.

During the hearing, Aleema Khan appeared before the court along with her lawyer Muhammad Faisal Malik, while lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha was also present.

Her legal team filed an application seeking the summoning of 21 prosecution witnesses as court witnesses. The court accepted the application for hearing and issued notices to the relevant parties.

The requested witnesses include Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Punjab Minister Azma Bukhari.

The application also sought the appearance of senior journalist Ansar Abbasi, anchor Shahzeb Khanzada, news editors of various newspapers and television channels, and bureau chiefs as witnesses.

The court issued notices to the prosecution on Aleema Khan’s request and sought a response by the next hearing.

During the proceedings, Aleema Khan was also provided a questionnaire under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code, consisting of 37 questions. Two co-accused, Adalat Qureshi and Tayyab Shah, recorded their statements under the same provision.

The court adjourned further proceedings until tomorrow at 1pm.
