Summary In separate video messages, the two former members appealed to Kashmiri youth not to become part of the committee's activities
MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – Two senior members of the banned Joint Action Committee, Faisal Gilani and Khawaja Anees, announced on Sunday that they are severing ties with the organisation and urged young people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to distance themselves from what they described as its campaign of unrest.
In separate video messages, the two former members appealed to Kashmiri youth not to become part of the committee's activities.
Faisal Gilani, a central member of the committee, said the organisation had abandoned its original mission of advocating for public rights. He claimed he could no longer remain associated with a movement that, in his view, was allowing young people to be used against Pakistan at the behest of anti-state elements.
He alleged that the banned committee was pursuing the agenda of external actors seeking to create instability in the country.
Khawaja Anees, another central member from Neelum Valley, said the movement, which had initially been launched in the name of public rights, had exceeded its limits by directing its activities against the state and national institutions.
He said statements against Pakistan and its state institutions were unacceptable and appealed to Kashmiri youth to stay away from the banned committee. Announcing his disassociation from the group, Anees said he no longer wished to be associated with what he described as an anti-state outfit.
