Summary Law Minister Azam Tarar says Islamabad's next prosecutor general will be appointed from the Islamabad Bar to strengthen institutions.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar announced that the next Prosecutor General of Islamabad will be appointed from the Islamabad Bar, saying the move is aimed at strengthening the capital's legal institutions.
Addressing a ceremony at the Judicial Complex, Tarar said he had pledged upon assuming office to make Islamabad a top priority and ensure that the federal capital would not be neglected.
He said that despite the transition to a caretaker government after 2022, development projects in Islamabad continued uninterrupted, adding that more projects had been completed in the capital than anywhere else in the country. He said Islamabad should emerge as a model city.
The law minister said the District Judicial Complex project had been completed, although some issues remained and were being addressed.
He added that space had been allocated for lawyers' chambers alongside the district courts, while the Ministry of Law had also decided to provide additional land for lawyers' chambers.
Tarar said judges from the Islamabad High Court were serving in the Supreme Court and the Federal Constitutional Court, while representatives of the Islamabad Bar Council were also part of the capital's judiciary.
He added that the federal government would continue extending every possible support to the provinces and reaffirmed that the Prosecutor General of Islamabad would be appointed from the Islamabad Bar.
