Summary Six more people have died and 26 houses were damaged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as monsoon rains and flash floods continue to cause widespread destruction.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – At least six more people have lost their lives and six others have been injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since July 24, as heavy monsoon rains and flash floods continue to batter the province, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
PDMA said the latest casualties occurred in separate incidents involving the collapse of roofs and walls. The deceased included three men and three children, while the injured comprised three men and three women.
According to the latest damage assessment, 26 houses were affected by heavy rains and flash floods during the reporting period. Of these, 19 sustained partial damage, while seven were completely destroyed.
The authority said that between July 19 and July 26, the overall death toll from rain-related incidents across 25 districts of the province had risen to 32, with 35 people injured.
The deceased included 13 men, three women and 16 children, while the injured comprised 16 men, 12 women and seven children, the report added.
The PDMA further reported that 72 houses had been damaged during the ongoing spell of monsoon rains, including 55 partially damaged and 17 completely destroyed homes. In addition, 46 livestock animals were killed in various weather-related incidents.
Among the affected districts are Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Upper Kohistan, Tank, Torghar, Kurram, North Waziristan and South Waziristan, along with several other areas.
The PDMA said it has directed all relevant district administrations to ensure the immediate delivery of relief goods to affected families and accelerate rescue and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.
Authorities have also urged residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas to remain alert and follow official weather advisories as monsoon conditions persist across the province.
