Summary Pakistan's passport has dropped to 101st in the Henley Passport Index after visa-free access declined to 29 destinations, keeping it among the world's weakest passports.
ISLAMABAD (Web News) - Pakistan's passport has slipped one place to 101st in the latest Henley Passport Index, remaining the fourth weakest passport globally as Pakistani citizens now enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to only 29 destinations.
The latest Henley Passport Index, released on Tuesday, ranked Pakistan 101st out of 199 passports assessed for global travel freedom across 227 destinations.
The decline follows a reduction in visa-free and visa-on-arrival access from 30 countries in May to 29 in July, resulting in Pakistan slipping one position from its previous ranking of 100th.
According to the index, Pakistani passport holders can currently travel visa-free to destinations including Barbados, Dominica, Haiti, Micronesia, Montserrat, Rwanda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, The Gambia, Trinidad and Tobago, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands.
Travellers can obtain visas on arrival in countries such as Cambodia, Maldives, Nepal, Madagascar, Mozambique, Palau, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Timor-Leste, while electronic travel authorisations are available for Kenya, Seychelles and Sri Lanka.
The report noted that Cape Verde, Mozambique and Qatar no longer offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry to Pakistani passport holders, contributing to the latest decline in travel access.
Pakistan had ranked 98th in March with access to 31 destinations and 97th in February with 32 destinations, reflecting a gradual reduction in travel mobility over recent months.
Despite the latest setback, Pakistan's passport ranking has improved compared with 2021, when it stood at 113th globally. The country ranked 107th in 2021, 109th in 2022 and 100th in both 2023 and 2024.
Only Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria currently rank below Pakistan in the global passport index, while Yemen has moved one place above Pakistan with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 30 destinations.
At the top of the rankings, Singapore retained its position as the world's most powerful passport, providing access to 192 destinations without a prior visa. Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates shared second place with access to 188 destinations, while Sweden ranked third with 187.
The Henley Passport Index measures global passport strength based on the number of destinations holders can enter without obtaining a visa in advance, including visa-free, visa-on-arrival and electronic travel authorisation arrangements.
