LAHORE (Dunya News) – India has stopped the flow of water into the Chenab River, resulting in a decline of 53,000 cusecs in the river’s flow within a single day, according to sources.
Sources said India had stopped the Chenab’s water at the Salal and Baglihar dams.
At 7am, the water inflow at Marala in the Chenab River was recorded at 74,000 cusecs. By noon, the flow had dropped to 31,000 cusecs.
The current water inflow at Marala stands at 21,000 cusecs, with sources describing the stoppage of Chenab waters as a serious violation of the Indus Waters Treaty.
