ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The government has appointed Lieutenant General (retd) Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary General of the alliance established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, the Foreign Office said.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, Mahmood will lead the General Secretariat of the alliance, which is being established in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Foreign Office said the General Secretariat, constituted under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, will serve as the alliance’s central administrative body and will be headed by the secretary general.

Mahmood’s appointment marks the establishment of the alliance’s senior administrative leadership and will involve overseeing the functioning of its general secretariat from Riyadh.
The development follows the recent signing of the Makkah Defence Agreement by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.
