Summary Punjab has announced the migratory waterfowl hunting season from October 2026 to March 2027, with weekend-only hunting and permit requirements.
LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Punjab government has announced the hunting season for migratory waterfowl, allowing hunting from October 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, only on Saturdays and Sundays with a valid shooting permit.
According to an official notification, all forms of hunting will remain prohibited in protected areas across Punjab.
Hunters will be required to comply with the limits on the number of birds specified in Schedule I of the Punjab Wildlife Act, 1974, as amended in 2025.
The Wildlife Department said hunting beyond the prescribed limits would constitute an offence under the law and could result in a fine, imprisonment, or both.
Other restrictions stipulated in the relevant law, along with instructions issued from time to time, will also remain in force.
The notification further prohibits hunting from a moving or occupied vehicle.
