Rising terrorism in KP must be curbed at all costs: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to curb the rising terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying efforts must be made to ensure the province can progress alongside other parts of the country.

The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam. The meeting covered matters concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

During the meeting, Amir Muqam briefed the prime minister on developments and ongoing matters in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Shehbaz Sharif directed relevant authorities to continue measures aimed at improving public welfare, development and the provision of basic facilities in both regions.

He said the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, along with the well-being of their residents, remained among the government's priorities.

Turning to the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the prime minister said the growing threat of terrorism had to be brought under control. He also expressed the government's desire to see the province achieve development comparable with other parts of the country.

Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism and said their contributions were deeply valued.
