Summary AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani said restrictions on movement in Rawalakot were disrupting education and hindering patients’ access to hospitals.
RAWALAKOT (Web Desk) - Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gilani has said that restrictions on movement in Rawalakot have severely disrupted education and caused serious difficulties for patients.
Speaking to media representatives during a visit to assess local conditions and find practical solutions, Gilani asked why the future of the next generation should be put at risk because of a few people.
He said the people of Rawalakot had made significant sacrifices in the history of the Kashmir freedom movement. During the last four elections, he added, they had raised demands for development and improvement of the area rather than making divisive statements.
Gilani said actions that harm the state could not serve the cause of improvement. He questioned how those who engaged in three hours of firing could claim to be holding a peaceful protest.
He said a movement could not be peaceful if it obstructed children’s access to schools and patients’ access to hospitals.
The AJK prime minister said no governance issue in Kashmir was so serious that it justified disturbing law and order. He urged Rawalakot residents to remain peaceful and said the government was committed to improving the area.
