Summary India and West Indies were fined for slow over rates in the third ODI, with India penalised 20% and West Indies 10% of their match fees after falling behind the required rate.
NEW CHANDIGARH (Dunya News) — India and the West Indies have been fined for maintaining slow over rates during the third and final ODI of their series in New Chandigarh, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The ICC said India were fined 20% of their match fees while the West Indies were fined 10% for failing to complete their allotted overs within the stipulated time.
After time allowances were taken into account, India were found to be four overs short of the required rate, while the West Indies were two overs behind.
ICC International Panel of Match Referees member Prakash Bhatt imposed the sanctions on both teams.
Both captains admitted the offences and accepted the proposed sanctions, meaning there was no need for a formal hearing.
India had already secured the three-match ODI series 2-0, but the West Indies staged a remarkable comeback in the final match and created history.
Led by an unbeaten 162 from Shai Hope, the West Indies chased down a target of 352 runs, recording their highest successful run chase in ODI cricket.
The two teams will now face each other in a five-match T20I series beginning October 6.
