LAHORE (Web Desk) - An Islamabad court has issued a show-cause notice to a man accused of allegedly defrauding national wrestler Athar Zahid of Rs5 million after he reportedly submitted a fake transaction receipt.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich heard a petition filed by Athar Zahid seeking registration of a case at the Islamabad District and Sessions Court.
The wrestler’s counsel, Sher Afzal Marwat, appeared before the court.
According to the petition, Athar Zahid had given Rs5 million to Pir Asim Ali Shah for investment. The accused allegedly paid profits for some time but, when the wrestler demanded the return of his principal amount, had him arrested with the alleged connivance of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Marwat told the court that national hero Athar Zahid had defeated India twice in the International Mega Wrestling Championship.
The lawyer further alleged that the accused had submitted a fake receipt showing a transaction of Rs100,000 before the court.
The court issued a show-cause notice to the accused over the alleged submission of the fake receipt.
The court also summoned the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shalimar Police Station for the next hearing and adjourned the case until October 28.
