NEW YORK (Dunya News) - The The New York Times has reported that the Central Intelligence Agency tracked a high-level gathering of Iranian leadership and then Israel struck the target.

According to the report, US intelligence had identified what was believed to be the most significant target — Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — just hours before the attack. Sources familiar with the operation said the CIA had been monitoring Khamenei’s movements and residences for several months, with its intelligence becoming increasingly precise over time.

The agency reportedly received information that a crucial meeting of senior Iranian officials was scheduled to take place Saturday morning at a compound in central Tehran, with Khamenei expected to attend.

Following the new intelligence, US and Israel officials allegedly adjusted the timing of the planned strike to capitalize on the opportunity, the newspaper claimed.

The report suggested that the rapid execution of the attack reflected close coordination and intelligence sharing between the United States and Israel. It also stated that despite clear signs of impending conflict, Iranian leadership failed to implement sufficient protective measures.
