Summary President Pezeshkian says that Washington seeks Iran’s surrender, but emphasised that Iran will not yield to pressure or force

TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that adherence to commitments is the fundamental basis for meaningful negotiations, stressing that longstanding distrust of the United States remains a major obstacle to dialogue.

In a statement, the Iranian president said that “unconstructive and contradictory signals” from US officials send a negative message.

He added that Washington seeks Iran’s surrender, but emphasised that Iran will not yield to pressure or force.

“Honouring commitments is the only logic that legitimizes any form of dialogue,” he said.

President Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran will not bow to any form of coercion or pressure, adding that the country’s foreign policy is rooted in sovereignty and national interests.

Earlier, during meetings with government officials in Tehran, he said that hostilities with the United States should end as soon as possible so Iran can focus on national reconstruction.

He stressed that diplomatic channels should be used to reduce tensions.

The Iranian president also underscored the need to keep the public informed, warning that misinformation or unrealistic promises not only fail to resolve issues but also undermine public trust.

He said both achievements and challenges should be presented to the public with honesty.
