Summary Abbas Araghchi said there are currently no direct talks between Iran and the United States
TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran would not resume direct negotiations with the United States as long as Washington continues to violate an interim agreement reached in June.
Araghchi said there are currently no direct talks between Iran and the United States and that Tehran would not enter negotiations until the US complies with the terms of the June interim agreement.
According to the British news agency, Araghchi also said messages continue to be exchanged between the two countries through intermediaries.
He said an agreement between Tehran and Muscat over the Strait of Hormuz is in its final stages.
However, he stressed that the strategically important waterway would not be reopened immediately even after the agreement is finalized.
Araghchi said the agreement would specify the new maritime routes to be used once the Strait of Hormuz is reopened to shipping.

He added that reopening the strait would depend on the United States first fulfilling the other conditions stipulated in the agreement.
Earlier, the head of Iran’s Forensic Medicine Organization said that 3,519 people were killed during a 40-day war with the United States.
He said the figure does not include people killed in clashes with the United States in recent weeks, particularly in southern Iran.
The fatalities included approximately 3,000 men and 500 women.
The official said 270 students were also among those killed, with the majority reportedly students at the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab, who were killed on the first day of the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
