DUBLIN (Dunya News) - US President Donald Trump has claimed that the ongoing war with Iran could end after the midterm elections, while making clear that he would not accept any agreement that he considers unacceptable to the United States.
Speaking to journalists in Ireland, Trump said Iran could never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons and claimed that Tehran was eager to reach a deal with Washington.
He added that he would have no objection if US representatives met with Iranian officials for negotiations.
Discussing the war in Ukraine, Trump said he had also spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and urged him to stop targeting oil facilities inside Russia.
The US president said Washington was obtaining large quantities of oil from Venezuela, adding that elections in the South American country would be held when conditions were favourable.

Trump also argued that the United States should have the world’s lowest interest rates, while claiming that the American economy was growing rapidly.
Turning to artificial intelligence, Trump stressed the importance of maintaining US leadership in the sector.
He said the country or entity that takes the lead in artificial intelligence would ultimately be the one that succeeds.
His remarks come as Washington faces multiple foreign-policy challenges involving Iran, Russia, Ukraine and Venezuela.
