WASHINGTON (Web Desk) - US President Donald Trump has again claimed that the war with Iran could end very soon, potentially shortly after the US elections.

Speaking at an election rally in the coastal city of Mobile, Alabama, Trump questioned who Washington could negotiate with in Tehran, saying there was no clear Iranian leader with whom the United States could reach an agreement.

Trump said the conflict could end soon, but stressed that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

He also claimed that Iran no longer had a navy, air force, radar or effective anti-aircraft defenses.

Trump further said the Iranian economy was facing severe difficulties, citing inflation of around 310 percent.

Describing the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as an “iron wall,” Trump predicted that oil prices would fall significantly once the war ended.

He also said the United States would soon begin replenishing its Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Trump has repeatedly said the conflict could end during or shortly after the November midterm elections.

Speaking to reporters on October 1, he said Iran was in poor condition and that the war would not last much longer.

Meanwhile, the White House has continued signaling pressure on Tehran, while Trump has rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal as inadequate.
