Summary Major General Ali Abdollahi has warned that if a new war breaks out, its flames will reach all countries in the region hosting US forces or military facilities

TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Ali Abdollahi, has warned that if a new war breaks out, its flames will reach all countries in the region hosting US forces or military facilities.

Speaking about the possibility of renewed military confrontation, Abdollahi said Iran was not waiting for the outcome of the US midterm elections and would respond forcefully to any military action against the country.

He said Iran was fully prepared to confront all forms of threats and possessed the capability to respond to any potential military operation.

“Whether it is a limited or large-scale action, Iran is prepared to defend itself and respond decisively,” the Iranian military chief said, according to the statement.

Abdollahi also criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), accusing the UN nuclear watchdog of adopting a hostile approach toward Iran.

Describing the agency as “a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” he rejected recent comments by the IAEA concerning Iran’s nuclear facilities as unfounded.

The remarks come amid continued tensions between Iran and the United States over Tehran’s nuclear program and regional security.

Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that any attack on the country would trigger a strong response and could have wider consequences across the Middle East.
