PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Three under custody robbery suspects were killed in the firing of their own accomplices when they were being escorted in a police van to an area for a recovery purpose, CCPO Mian Saeed claimed here on Wednesday.

He said the incident took place on Works Road, adding the suspects were arrested in connection with a bank robbery on Kohat Road.

According to him, armed men riding a bike opened fire on police van in an attempt to get them freed. In the shootout, the under custody suspects were killed, whereas police personnel remained unhurt because of wearing bullet proof jackets.

The suspected outlaws were identified as Umer, Shoaib and Amad. The assailants escaped after the firing. Three pistols were seized on the information of the suspects. Police van was damaged in the firing. A manhunt was launched for the fleeing outlaws.
