Summary Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called construction progress satisfactory and directed officials to complete the Jinnah Medical Complex project on schedule.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described progress on the under-construction Jinnah Medical Complex as satisfactory and directed officials to meet all project targets within the stipulated timeline.
A review meeting chaired by the prime minister in Islamabad examined construction work, medical facilities, administrative arrangements and completion targets.
Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said the complex would provide international-standard healthcare to patients from Islamabad and across the country, particularly those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
He directed that all hospital appointments be made on merit and through a transparent process to recruit highly qualified professionals. He also called for the services of a reputable private organisation to manage the hospital and help ensure internationally recognised healthcare standards.
The prime minister stressed that patients from low- and middle-income groups should have access to advanced diagnostic facilities. He directed that PET scans and other modern diagnostic services be included in the project.
Officials told the meeting that 59 per cent of construction work on the Jinnah Medical and Research Centre (JMCRC-I) had been completed. The main hospital structure and parking plaza are also complete.
The 403-bed hospital is scheduled to become operational by March 23, 2027. Work is continuing on the installation and maintenance of modern medical equipment, a digital hospital management system and other administrative arrangements.
