ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has called for immediate issuance of a notification of appointing Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as Supreme Court chief justice.

Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, Chaudhry stated that lawyers were united against the constitutional amendment.

He warned that if Justice Mansoor Ali Shah's notification was not issued, a long march would be organised.

He urged the lawyers, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), and the Jamaat-e-Islami to join the march.

He described the attempt to bring about a constitutional amendment as alarming. He reiterated that lawyers and political parties must take action against it.

Chaudhry cautioned that if the amendment was enacted, it would cause irreparable damage to the constitution.

He claimed that the current assemblies were constituted on Form 47 and did not represent the people.

He emphasised that the Supreme Court's orders were continuously ignored by the authorities.
