SARGODHA (Dunya News) - Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan on Saturday criticised the government for enactment of the Pakistan Electronic Media Prevention Act (PECA), saying the government was stifling the freedom of speech.

Speaking to media in Sargodha where he had arrived for a hearing, Khan said there was no room left for journalists to express their thoughts freely, adding that no media representatives could write or speak openly.

He held the government responsible for inflation in the country while claiming that the Sindh government would agree to the distribution of water - under the proposed agenda by the federal government.

"Sikandar Sultan Raja is responsible for the political crisis which unfolded after the 2024 elections. We appear in the courts every now and then without knowing our crime. The prime minister hasn't responded to my letter seeking formation of a parliamentary committee. The government is lingering on the matter but we will not let that happen. We will hold a power show in Swabi on Feb 8," he stressed.
