PFUJ to observe black day against PECA today

Black flags will be hoisted at press clubs across the country and rallies will be taken out
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has announced to observe Friday as black day against the controversial PECA (Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act).
According to a PFUJ announcement, black flags will be hoisted at press clubs across the country. Journalist will take out protest rallies and perform duties wearing black armbands.
PFUJ President Afzal Butt and General Secretary Arshad Ansari have said in a joint statement that the Joint Action Committee had requested a meeting with President Asif Zardari.
They regretted that the president signed the bill into law without a meeting with journalists’ leaders.
They vowed to launch a nationwide campaign to mobilize lawyers and civil society and added that a call will also be given for a sit-in in front of the parliament against the “black law”.
