Country remains a haven for people of all faiths: Prime Minister
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to religious harmony, stating that the country remains a haven for people of all faiths.
In his message marking the World Interfaith Harmony Week, the premier highlighted Pakistan’s dedication to fostering social cohesion and upholding the values of tolerance and mutual respect.
“We stand with the global community in celebrating this week, reaffirming our belief in social harmony and respect for universal values,” PM Sharif said. He underscored that Islam advocates for justice, compassion, and respect for all living beings.
Condemning extremism and divisive rhetoric, the prime minister warned that such tendencies pose a serious threat to the fabric of society. “The world is grappling with growing challenges of intolerance and division. We must renew our collective resolve for peace and unity,” he stressed.
Calling on citizens to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, PM Sharif urged communities to embrace the principles of tolerance and cooperation. “We are committed to promoting an environment rooted in mutual respect. Those who seek to sow fear and division will find us united in our response,” he asserted.
The prime minister further stressed the need for dialogue to counter hate and prejudice. “We respond to the merchants of hate with meaningful conversation. Religious scholars, community leaders, and civil society must play their part in fostering a positive and inclusive social environment,” he concluded.
