KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government has announced a whooping hike in fare of Peoples Bus Service in Karachi, putting an additional burden on passengers.

The fare for a distance less than 15 kilometers has been increased by Rs30, taking it to Rs80 from Rs50 per passenger.

However, the passengers will have to pay Rs120 per trip if the distance is more than 15 kilometers.

The move will put financial burden on people who use this service to travel to offices, educational institutions and other places on daily basis.

On the other hand, Sindh Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that all decisions made by the government based on good intentions.

He said the government is providing a subsidy of Rs5 million daily. He thanked the Sindh cabinet and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for their support.

Citizens have expressed concerns, saying fares had been jacked up despite no increase in their incomes. They have asked the government to reconsider its decision to raise the fare of the Peoples Bus Service.
