Event will feature 70 international teams for the first time after 30 years
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The National Horse and Cattle Show 2025 will commence in Lahore on Feb 10, following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The official inauguration of the event will be held on Feb 9.
It will be the first time after 30 years 70 international teams will participate. The event was launched in 1964 and the last show was held in 1995.
The event, themed "Unity, Progress, and Cultural Revival," will run until Feb 23 across various locations in Lahore. It will showcase traditional activities such as tent pegging, archery, and polo, along with equestrian performances. There will also be cultural festivals, flower exhibitions, and children’s games from Feb 13 to 23.
To promote Punjab's heritage, music festivals will be held from Feb 14 to 16, and a Sufi Festival on Feb 19 to honour Sufi saints and spread their teachings. Kabaddi matches are scheduled for Feb 18-19, and a car show for vintage car enthusiasts will take place on Feb 16.
Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz emphasised that the event is a gift to the people of Punjab, celebrating the province’s agriculture and cultural heritage.
She highlighted that the show’s revival, with international participation, reflected the government’s commitment to agricultural growth, farmers’ welfare, and the promotion of traditional values.
She also noted Punjab as the land of love and unity, with no room for hatred.
A steering committee, led by Punjab’s Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, has been overseeing preparations for the past four months, with the Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) playing a key role in organising the event.
