Protesters block roads after loss of two lives in uncovered manhole
PATTOKI (Dunya News) - People held a protest after two persons lost their lives after falling into an uncovered manhole on a road in Pattoki, Dunya News reported here on Sunday.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman fell into an uncovered manhole on Chunian Road and two men tried to rescue her but they also got stuck.
Some passersby launched efforts to rescue the victims and recovered them after 15 minutes. A woman and a man were recovered dead whereas another person was shifted to hospital in a critical condition.
The tragic incident sparked indignation among people, who took to the street to record their protest.
They blocked traffic and raised slogans, demanding that dozens of open manholes should be urgently covered to prevent accidents in future.
