LAHORE (Web Desk) - Former Interior Secretary Tasneem Noorani says poverty and economic instability in the country can be overcome by promoting education.
“Pakistan is abundant in talent and has intelligent people. There should be investment on promoting education and ensuring that the underprivileged classes are taken care of because they can be major export of the country,” he said at an event in Lahore.
He compared Pakistan’s education budget with the spending in India and Bangladesh and highlighted a huge amount of foreign exchange they earned through skilled manpower export programmes.
Even with uneducated and unskilled labour, he said, Pakistan was earning more than textiles and all other exports combined together.
Mr Noorani, who also runs a foundation by his name near Faisalabad, shared his experiences of supporting the underprivileged children from across the country.
Earlier, Prof Dr Safdar Ali Malik welcomed Noorani and lauded his services as a philanthropist.
Mian Nabeel Ashraf thanked the chief guest and the participants for attending the seminar and presented a shield to Mr Noorani.
