Sharjeel Memon also expressed concern over increasing number of fatal traffic accidents
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Senior MQM-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take action against dumpers, which he said were causing frequent road accidents in the city.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon, Sattar appealed to citizens to seek justice through the appropriate forums.
He highlighted that it is the responsibility of the government, administration, and law enforcement agencies to address the dangers posed by dumpers and trucks during the day.
"Immediate action should be taken in accident-prone areas, and the victims and their families must receive justice," he said. He also called for concrete action against the culprits.
Sattar also stressed the need for an independent commission to investigate these accidents, clarifying that they should not be given an ethnic angle.
Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon expressed concern over the increasing number of fatal traffic accidents in Karachi, stating that all stakeholders have agreed that such incidents should not be politicised or viewed through an ethnic lens.
"This meeting sends a clear message that we are united as Pakistanis," Memon said.
He reiterated that road accidents should not be exploited for political or ethnic agendas.
Memon further stated that efforts are underway to resolve these issues and maintain peace in the city. He confirmed that the tanker driver responsible for a recent accident had been arrested, along with 15 individuals involved in rioting and arson.
