SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticised that advertising is unbecoming of the medical profession.
Addressing a ceremony in Sialkot, Asif remarked that the city is flooded with advertisements for doctors, like that of posters for Punjabi films in the past.
“The healing touch of a doctor is an advertisement in itself,” he stated.
“When a doctor possesses the skill bestowed by God, patients come of their own. I came across an advertisement by a doctor that left me embarrassed. Promoting oneself through advertisements does not befit the medical profession—such tactics are better suited for politicians.”
The defence minister further noted that while oaths are rarely upheld.
Despite the establishment of numerous hospitals in Sialkot, healthcare facilities remain poor. He added that his father had built a hospital in the city, yet its healthcare needs continue to outpace available resources.
