ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Tuesday that some elements were unable to digest the government’s efforts to save the economy from default.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) building in Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister Dar said that the youth should utilize their potential for the improvement of the economy, there is room for improvement in corporate law, the Corporate Law Authority has been made an autonomous institution, and it is our collective responsibility to take the country forward.

He said that the business community was considering shutting down their businesses and moving abroad, but after the integration of all stock markets, the Pakistan Stock Exchange is now reaching new heights.

“Between 2013 and 2017, the country had achieved economic stability, and the PDM government saved the country from default. Now, the national economy is on the path to stability,” he added.

The Foreign Minister stated that there were immense opportunities in the Pakistani economy, adding that it was essential to get rid of external debts.

“We need a strong economy in the future, and the demands of the time require us to move towards economic self-reliance,” he asserted.

Dar further said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was working day and night for economic stability and had brought Pakistan back from the brink of default.

“We have saved the economy, which some elements are unable to digest. Some elements want to see Pakistan in default. After 27 years, an event like the SCO was hosted in Pakistan. Pakistan will never face diplomatic isolation again,” he reiterated.
