Two judges of Lahore High Court would be promoted to the Supreme Court
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi convened the Judicial Commission meeting on April 8.
The meeting would be presided over by CJP Afridi.
It has been learnt that two judges of Lahore High Court would be promoted to the Supreme Court.
The Judicial Commission would pick two names from the list of five senior judges of LHC.
Earlier, the Judicial Commission had approved 10 additional judges for the Peshawar High Court (PHC). The commission reviewed 40 candidates before finalising the appointments.

During the meeting, PHC Chief Justice Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim reportedly advocated for the appointment of a tenth judge.
Despite objections raised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members, including Barrister Gohar, Ali Zafar, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Law Minister, the commission approved the appointments by majority vote.
It must be noted that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges had written a letter to the president and prime minister in which they raised their concerns over attempts to appoint the IHC CJ from other high courts.
The letter also suggested that one of the three senior most IHC judges should be made the IHC CJ.
